Love my job

Today has been a good day. Visitors to the exhibition, a piece of  work to be framed and a discussion with an artist exhibiting in November.

Bryan Day has lived abroad for many years painting and exhibiting in solo shows in Spain and has been successful. He has now returned to the UK and is going to exhibit in his home town in November. Now living in Tickhill near Doncaster he is wanting to share his work with a local audience in the gallery near to the town centre. The Mac Gallery will house Bryan's work for a month from the 28th of October to the 30th November opening times are 10-4pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10-1pm closed Tuesday and Sunday.

Our present exhibition is Danum Academy their sixth form students have produced some amazing pieces of work in graphics, mixed media and photography. Their efforts to hang the work has paid off as they have a beautiful exhibition showcasing the talents of their students. The open evening was really well attended by parents, grandparents, friends and family. Subsequently the gallery has been visited by more people. One young lady is going to Edinburgh University to do Fashion and Communication.

The gallery allows me to meet some great people and yesterday was no exception as several of The Fringe members dropped by and chatted about their ideas and their forthcoming event in Rossington. Along with their plans to hold a story telling event in the hospital grounds. Which will include stories around the fire with music and entertainment. Latterly a discussion about the action research taking place over the next few years and how to remain part of it. So a really good day.

The Mac Gallery introduction

The Mac Gallery

The Mac Gallery space has evolved into a tranquil space for people to enjoy with a sense of calm reflection where people can be creative.

Friends of The Mac Gallery was established to add diversity to the gallery and support projects.

The gallery holds events and offers room and wall rental to therapists, counselors, facilitators and artists.

TPS picture framing is now on site Mac provides an all round service for all your framing needs. From water colour to tapestry.

The gallery aims to work with other businesses.

The gallery constantly evolves as a creative space with new works on the wall and new artists. In the pipeline are events for kids during the holidays photography, ceramics, model making, paint a pot, art jam, felt making and modular origami.

The gallery is housed in a three storey Georgian building next to the the Salutation pub. The workshops and sessions offer people to create a dialogue they may not have had with art before. Through art people can help their mental health and well being by tapping into their creative side. I would like people to know of the space and engage in the arts as a form of self expression and personal growth. There will be a public art space for a monthly rental dependent on size of the works and wall space aimed at amateurs and professionals.

Friends of The Mac Gallery

The Friends of The Mac Gallery is a constituted group with a management committee with social aims and objectives.
To encourage more connections Friends of The Mac Gallery has introduced a monthly networking event on the last Wednesday of the month 10-12pm. This is an opportunity to meet other businesses and see what they offer in terms of products, service and collaboration with each other or the gallery. This is an opportunity to practice your pitch with no pressure to address a group of people just discussions, chat and connections with new businesses which may be directly of benefit or to another business you have connected with at another event. So far it;s been fun, relaxed and most of all productive. The energy is great.
For £12.00 annual fee to join Friends of The Mac Gallery you can share what you do with no pressure

Creative Art as Therapy

Mission Statement
To create a piece of organic art made by the people who are restricted by diagnosis or illness.

The Vision
My vision is to bring art to those who are lonely have low self esteem and poor confidence isolated by diagnosis, illness and could be facing an uncertain future. There are those who are restricted by their mental health and the ageing process within our community. The creation of art can be as a dialogue and form of communication for themselves their family, with friends and the wider community.
My aim would be inspire and share their work with a wider national audience. This would create an opportunity for both personal and commercial development and aspire to their ability.

This is our new sign.
